It was important for this growing family to have a ‘gathering’ place in the evening while cooking dinner. We worked with local engineers and designers to completely transform the once-dark space by knocking down walls and creating an open and bright kitchen ideal for family gatherings.

Losing a wall meant losing some cabinet space. To make up for this a massive island was added that allowed for tons of seating, and ample storage. The island more than doubled the counter space and gave the kids an opportunity to help out more in the kitchen. We added a custom barn board beam to cover up the steel, adding a touch of rustic to this modern kitchen.

A new bar station sits at the back of the kitchen, an area that was the old family room. It serves as a barista’s dream in the morning, and an easy place to get cocktail hour started in the evening while cooking dinner.
